Whole Star Anise

Star Anise is a mahogany, star-shaped spice with a licorice-like flavour. It’s sweet, warm and aromatic. Add whole to soups, rice, stews and braising broths to add a sweet-licorice-peppery flavour. Star Anise also adds a complex depth to desserts that’s hard to replicate. Be careful not to confuse Star Anise with Aniseed – star Anise is slightly more bitter and herbaceous.
